Mya Weakley, PLMFT

Therapist in Lake St. Louis, MO

Clinical Specialties:

Hi, I’m Mya! I’m a Provisionally Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist at Marble Wellness.

My Education and Professional Background

I received my undergraduate degree from Southeast Missouri State University, where I majored in Psychology with double minors in Family Studies and Childhood Trauma Outcomes. I earned my Master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University, and I am provisionally licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy (PLMFT), working toward full licensure.

For 3+ years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve individuals, families, and couples across a range of settings. In private practice, I work with adults, couples, and families, drawing on a calm, non-pathologizing, strengths-based approach to help clients navigate relationship and individual concerns. This builds on three years providing school-based individual and family therapy to adolescents and teens at Youth in Need, as well as my work as a mental health specialist at an LGBTQ+ youth summer camp for multiple summers. Across these settings, I’ve developed the flexibility to meet a wide range of clients and concerns with care and clinical skill.

How I Like to Work in Therapy

At Marble Wellness, I primarily work with couples, adults, and families. I also work with adolescents and teens (ages 12+)! I believe that helping the system helps the individual — when there are more voices in the room, it’s often easier to create space for real change. Community matters deeply to me, and with every client, I strive to create an affirming, safe space where people feel genuinely met.

I especially enjoy working with teens because I believe early intervention is the best intervention. Adolescents may be hesitant to start therapy, but having a trusted adult and safe space outside of their caregivers can make a real difference.

What I Enjoy Most About Therapy

One of my favorite parts of the therapy process is watching clients see the changes they’ve made and the hard work they’ve done show up in their everyday life. It’s incredibly meaningful to hear how a client’s growth is shaping the way they navigate their relationships and the world around them — and I love pausing in those moments to let clients really sit with and reflect on their progress.
