You’re feeling overwhelmed. Lonely. Down in the dumps. It’s been too many days in a row you’ve been feeling like this and you’re just plain over it.
Or, you’re watching your child deal with what you now (from reading up on the internet, or seeing on Instagram) know is called “dysregulation.” Your child or your teen is dealing with bullying; or low self-esteem; or friendship challenges.
Or, you’re in a family unit that needs a boost. You all love each other but liking one another…that’s been a feeling that’s been hard to come by lately. The transition you’re going through has knocked your foundation into a rocky place and you’re longing for someone to help “fix” it.
Hi, I’m Kristi and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, and also a Registered Play Therapist. Whether you are an overwhelmed mom or anxious or depressed adult; a child or a teen in need of some skills and a place to find relief; or a family unit in need of improvement, I would love to work with you.
So many people are unsure how to find someone they can trust to help them. I get that! Therapy is an intimate process, and can be an intimidating one to start! But I can assure you that I am committed to helping my clients find relief from cycles of emotional distress; improvement in the core of their relationships; and true, lasting change that can bring back feelings of balance, contentment, and fulfilment.
To do this, I bring a lot of compassion to the counseling process. I show up authentically every session. I also love to use humor to help break up the “heaviness” we sometimes deal with in our time together.
When we work together, I help you explore all of your thoughts, feelings, and struggles that you’re dealing with on a day-to-day basis. As we get to know those factors really well, we can find the places you’re getting stuck and identify ways to overcome them. I also encourage my clients to examine their values and long-term goals; we then translate that into concrete steps toward increasing happiness, meaning and connection.
Through an awareness of their strengths, my clients are able to work through challenges leading to personal growth and the freedom to create and explore new possibilities. Most importantly, the sessions are a space for you to tell YOUR story and find the support you need to reach the goals you have for yourself!
I have over 12 years of experience and specialize in working with anxiety, depression and trauma. I love working with children, adolescents, families and adults. Being a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) allows me to help find a way to express yourself when words are not enough. I can use these techniques and interventions not just with kids, but with teenagers and adults, too!
I look forward to partnering with you on your journey!
