Katherine Johnston, PLPC
Therapist in St. Louis, MO
Clinical Specialties:

Hi, I’m Katherine! I’m a Counselor-in-Training at Marble Wellness.
My Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communication and Public Affairs from Southern Methodist University, followed by a Master of Science in Counseling from the same institution. I am currently practicing as a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC) and a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (PLMFT), while working toward full licensure.
Prior to joining Marble Wellness, I spent three years providing counseling services in Austin, Texas, working with individuals, couples, and families with a particular emphasis on couples therapy. During that time, I supported clients through life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, and family-of-origin concerns. This work reinforced the importance of meeting clients where they are and tailoring treatment to each person’s unique experiences — and deepened my understanding of how attachment, communication patterns, and interpersonal relationships shape emotional well-being. These experiences continue to inform my belief that meaningful change happens within a safe, collaborative, and trusting therapeutic relationship.
How I Like to Work in Therapy
I work with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns, with a particular focus on interpersonal difficulties. I strive to create an environment that feels warm, supportive, affirming, and free of judgment — one where each client is treated as the expert of their own life. My role is to offer guidance, support, and a safe space for clients to gain insight, build on their strengths, and move toward lasting change.
I use an integrative, evidence-based approach, drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the Gottman Method to help clients strengthen emotional awareness, improve communication, deepen connection, and build practical skills for navigating life’s challenges.
My areas of focus include relationship and attachment-based concerns, infidelity recovery, conflict resolution and communication difficulties, trauma recovery, emotional dysregulation, identity development and self-esteem, life transitions, grief, chronic illness, and behavioral health.
What I Enjoy Most About Therapy
One of the most rewarding parts of being a therapist is witnessing clients discover their own resilience and grow in ways they once thought were impossible. I deeply value the therapeutic relationship and believe healing happens when people feel truly seen, heard, and understood. It’s an honor to walk alongside clients as they explore their stories, identify patterns that no longer serve them, and build lives and relationships that feel more authentic.

Fun Fact
Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy traveling, hiking, cooking, trying new restaurants, and reading psychological thrillers. One item on my bucket list is to spend one month traveling through Europe.
