Sometimes you sit there and just wonder, “what gives?”
“Will this emotional pain ever go away?”
“When am I going to catch a break?”
“When is it going to be my turn?”
And maybe think
“no one sees me, like really sees me.”
“my parents definitely don’t understand me.”
“It’s like I’m invisible to everyone around.”
“I just feel powerless.”
That’s a tough place to be in life. And you shouldn’t stay stuck there. Whether you are a teenager feeling hopeless, a young adult facing down a life transition that is tougher than you thought, a new mom grappling for a sense of “calm” or “normal” or “who you used to be”, a parent of a teenager feeling like you’re at a loss for how to help your child….I am here for you.
Life can be overwhelming, hopeless, frustrating, unnerving, or downright unbearable. As your therapist, I want to walk alongside you to figure out this messiness that is life. I want to give you space to explore those questions you’ve been wondering about and a place to feel like there is someone who can see and understand you.
If you struggle with anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, anger, rage, loneliness, bullying, fear, hurt, isolation, self-esteem issues, lack of confidence, or worthiness, I can help you. By coming to therapy with me, we will find the unique parts of you and build on those to help you start feeling better. Together, we can strategize and look for solutions...the kind that actually work for you, that fit your style and pace.
In the therapy room, we may use creative strategies to explore or problem-solve. Maybe that’s utilizing music; playing in a sand tray; or using a game. Other times, the intervention may be about looking at what is going on inside of you—the memories that get triggered; the automatic thoughts that aren’t kind to you; or that critical inner voice that just won’t let up—and finding new ways to engage in those personal stories, habitual thoughts, and inner voice. Whatever the technique, we will work together to discover what you (or your child!) need to heal and move forward.
When you leave therapy with me, you will feel like you have a better understanding of yourself, a greater toolkit for things that come up in the future, and a generally happier and more hopeful outlook on your day-to-day life.
I am a provisionally licensed therapist with a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University. I have experience counseling with grade school through high school, and parents with teens, tweens, and grade school age. I have helped students and parents with depression, anxiety, anger, thoughts of suicide, and severe trauma. I can restore hope and confidence in kids and parents alike. I have a background in talk radio and a secondary education degree as a middle school drama teacher. (And I am excited to see how both of these prior careers will have a positive impact on the therapy work I do at Marble Wellness!) I love watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs play. I enjoy being outdoors, reading a good book or going to the movies.
